Our story
Friends who dance together
Masakali began in 2024 as a group of friends who wanted a stage of their own. Today Team Masakali is a GTA performance collective of up to 25 dancers: women, girls and families celebrating heritage through dance-culture fusion.

1st Runner-Up, Panorama India Folk Dance Competition
Team Masakali – Kerala placed second at Panorama India's Republic Day celebrations, Feb 1, 2026. We also represented India at the Carassauga 2026 kick-off.

Meet the founder
Vardhini Venkat
Founder & Choreographer · Classical dancer · P.Eng.
A trained classical dancer and licensed civil engineer (P.Eng.), Vardhini founded Masakali in 2024 and choreographs across classical, folk and Bollywood.
She is a founding member and Secretary of the Disha Foundation of Canada, where she leads programs and outreach: food bank volunteering, winter clothing drives, Ride 4 Heart and the Disha Connect series.
